Luis Enrique praises Desire Doue after sensational brace vs Monaco

Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique could not hide his delight with Desire Doue after the youngster produced a stunning performance in the 3-2 comeback win over Monaco in the Champions League play-offs first leg.

The French talent scored twice in a high-pressure game, just days after enduring heavy criticism and scrutiny over his recent form.

Enrique highlighted how much the moment meant to both the player and the team, especially given PSG’s youth and the expectations now surrounding the squad.

“We are a very young team. Nobody thought we were going to win last season. The pressure is different to manage now because everyone knows we can win. I’m very happy for Desire because, last week, everyone criticised and tore Doue to shreds. He was sensational, he showed personality and character. I’m very happy for him because he helped the team at the best possible time. We like this pressure to win again, and that’s what we’ll be aiming for until the very last match,” said the Spanish manager.

Doue’s display has strengthened his case as a key figure for PSG as they push for another deep run in Europe.

Doue has played five games and scored four goals in the Champions League this season.
