The manager of Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique has backed France forward of Malian descent Ousmane Dembele to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or following the team’s triumph in the UEFA Champions League.
Dembele was in action for the French Champions for the final of this season’s UEFA Champions League on Saturday night.
The in-form attacker put up a top performance, helping PSG to thump Inter Milan 5-0 at the end of the one-sided contest to win the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Coach Luis Enrique said Ousmane Dembele deserves to win the Ballon d’Or.
“He [Dembele] has led a team with humility and leadership. The way he defended tonight… only that can be worth the Ballon d’Or. This is how you lead a team. Goals, titles, leadership, defending, how he was pressing.
“Ousmane is my Ballon d’Or. No doubts at all,” Enrique said after the game.
Ousmane Dembele has been a standout performer for PSG throughout the 2024/25 football season.
He has helped PSG to win a historic quadruple and has raised his stakes in the race for the Ballon d’Or award.
