Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has lavished praise on rising star Nico Williams, calling him “another genius” as speculation over the winger’s next club intensifies.
With Barcelona reportedly leading the race, the Spanish-Ghanaian talent is believed to have agreed personal terms with the Catalan giants. The club is now trying to activate his €62 million release clause from Athletic Club, where Nico has developed into one of La Liga’s most exciting attackers.
“We’ll see what happens, it’s football stuff,” De la Fuente said. “But Nico is another player who will make history and become a legend.”
The Spain coach, clearly impressed by the 22-year-old’s growth, added, “We are proud to have such young and good players. They also give us a lot of joy and I wish them all the luck, both personally and professionally.”
While Barcelona remains confident, Bayern Munich has also entered the race, hoping to lure the talented winger to Germany. With two of Europe’s biggest clubs in pursuit, Nico Williams looks set to take the next big step in his career.
