Lugazi add Uganda striker Cromwel Rwothomio after NEC departure

Uganda centre-forward Cromwel Rwothomio has joined Lugazi from NEC FC on a free transfer, completing a move between two Uganda Premier League clubs.

The 34-year-old, who was born in Pakwach, leaves NEC after three years with the National Enterprise Corporation FC side. He joined the club from Vipers on 1 July 2023 and is now beginning the next chapter of his career with Lugazi.

Rwothomio scored 12 goals and provided one assist in 34 Uganda Premier League appearances for NEC. He also found the net twice in four CAF Confederation Cup matches, while featuring in two CAF Champions League games.

His goalscoring record in continental competition adds to the experience he brings to Lugazi, having played across Uganda’s domestic league and Africa’s club tournaments. Rwothomio’s move also keeps him in the Uganda Premier League, where he has spent much of his career.

Before joining NEC, the striker was with Vipers during the 2022-23 season. He had moved to Vipers from URA FC in August 2022, following four years at URA after joining from Black Angels SC in 2018.

Rwothomio’s senior career began with Black Angels SC in 2015, and he has remained in Ugandan football throughout his recorded club career. His latest transfer was completed on 4 August 2026, with Lugazi securing his arrival without a fee.

The Ugandan forward has now completed his free transfer from NEC FC to Lugazi.
