Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthäus has singled out Omar Marmoush as one of the most exceptional talents in world football, stating that the Egyptian forward should be in the conversation for the title of the world’s best player. Speaking to Sky Sports, Matthäus praised Marmoush’s performances at Eintracht Frankfurt, highlighting his vital role in the club’s success this season.
Matthäus, a former World Cup and Ballon d’Or winner, expressed his admiration for the 25-year-old’s contributions to Frankfurt, emphasizing that the club’s current success in the Bundesliga can largely be attributed to Marmoush’s form.
“Frankfurt has been the surprise of the league, and the main reason for that is Omar Marmoush,” Matthäus said. “If we were to choose the world’s best player every three months, Marmoush should be in contention for the award.
He’s currently playing at an elite level, not only in the Bundesliga but also on the international stage.”
The former German international acknowledged that Marmoush’s success is also influenced by the strong support of his teammates, much like Harry Kane at Bayern Munich.
“Marmoush, like Kane at Bayern, benefits greatly from his teammates,” Matthäus added. “The team supports him, sets him up, and he scores plenty of goals.
Frankfurt is playing fantastic football, and they have a real chance of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season.”
Marmoush’s impact has been undeniable this season, helping Eintracht Frankfurt rise to third place in the Bundesliga with 20 points from 10 games.
The club trails second-placed Red Bull Leipzig by just one point and is only six points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.
Marmoush’s form, which includes several key goals and assists, has firmly placed him among the standout performers in Germany’s top division.
Looking ahead, Frankfurt’s next match is against Werder Bremen on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 7:30 PM CET.
With Marmoush in such impressive form, the team will be aiming to continue their strong push for a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League, a feat that now seems well within their reach.
