Head coach of Ghana’s Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjorkegren has expressed his disappointment after losing to Morocco in a friendly game.
Ghana’s female senior national team suffered a 1-0 defeat against the Atlas Lioness on Friday night at the Père Jégo Stadium in Casablanca.
The Queens failed to capitalise on their chances with Morocco’s pressure yielding results in extra time when Saoud Imane scored the match-winner, slotting home a loose ball in defense.
Speaking in his post-match interview after the loss, the Swedish tactician indicated that his team deserved at least a draw after a spirited effort against the hosts.
“This is the worst feeling to have as a coach and as a player. When you work hard for almost a whole game you deserve a draw result. “You have the chances to actually win and then you are unlucky in the end, the ball bouncing and they score when there is nothing left,” he asserted.
“I’m really proud of the girls. They worked hard. There haven’t been so many trainings together. “The focus has been to work as a group and be well-organised in defense. They did an amazing job. I’m happy with the girls,” coach Bjorkegren told the media team of the GFA.
Kim Lars Bjorkegren will hope to secure his first win when the Queens take on AS FAR on Monday.
These games form part of the team’s preparations ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.
