LOSC Lille have stepped up their monitoring of Moroccan Under-20 international Yassine Gessime as the club prepares for possible attacking reinforcements during the upcoming winter transfer window.
French media reports on Monday revealed that Lille’s recruitment team has followed the progress of the 20-year-old right winger, who currently plays for USL Dunkerque in Ligue 2.
According to La Voix du Nord, Lille’s management have identified Gessime as a potential option to strengthen the wide areas and could move quickly once the January window opens.
Gessime remains under contract with Dunkerque until June 2027, a factor that places his club in a strong negotiating position. Despite that, Lille continue to explore several pathways to secure his services.
The northern club have reportedly outlined two possible scenarios. One option involves an immediate transfer that would see Gessime join the Lille squad this winter.
The second scenario involves a lower initial fee combined with a loan arrangement that would allow the player to remain at Dunkerque until the end of the season, continuing his development in familiar surroundings.
The interest reflects Gessime’s growing influence at Dunkerque. Over the course of the current campaign, he has established himself as one of the club’s most reliable attacking outlets.
In 14 appearances across all competitions, he has contributed two goals and seven assists, demonstrating consistency, creativity and a clear impact in the final third. His pace and direct style have played a key role in Dunkerque’s attacking structure.
At international level, Gessime represents part of Morocco’s emerging generation.
He holds a regular place in the national Under-20 side and gained wider recognition during the Under-20 World Cup in Chile.
His performances during that tournament helped Morocco claim the world title at youth level, marking him out as a player with significant potential.
Lille’s interest also fits within a broader context. The club already features several players with Moroccan ties, including striker Hamza Igamane, who joined from Glasgow Rangers last August on a contract running until 2030, winger Oussama Sahraoui, and Franco-Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, who developed through the club’s academy.
As January approaches, attention will remain fixed on Dunkerque and Lille’s next move.
Whether Lille opt for an immediate transfer or a delayed integration, Yassine Gessime now stands firmly on the radar of a Ligue 1 side known for developing young talent.
