Salomon Kalou’s Lille Exit Looms Amid Transfer Speculation
Salomon Kalou, the Ivorian forward, continues to unsettle LOSC Lille as the transfer window heats up. Absent from Lille’s recent Champions League play-off defeat against Porto, Kalou’s desire to leave the club has been clear since early summer.
Coach René Girard expressed frustration over the situation: “I want players with a clear mind focused on competition. That hasn’t been the case here. I’m not pushing anyone out — it was his own wish to leave.”
Lille’s management aims to secure around €3 million from the transfer and ease their wage bill, as Kalou’s €2 million net annual salary weighs on the club, especially after their Champions League elimination.
Kalou reportedly prefers a move to the Bundesliga, much to the disappointment of interested English clubs.
