Liverpool Ready to Pay Premium to Recall Divock Origi Early from Lille
With a goal-shy attack and injury setbacks plaguing their front line, Liverpool are desperately seeking solutions—and eyes are now firmly fixed on Belgian striker Divock Origi, currently on loan at Lille.
Signed last summer for €12 million, Origi was loaned back to the French side for the 2014–2015 season. But with Daniel Sturridge sidelined again—this time for at least six weeks—and Mario Balotelli continuing to underwhelm, Liverpool are considering an early recall for the 19-year-old forward.
According to reports, Origi has already made 11 Ligue 1 appearances, netting 3 goals, and has hinted that he’s open to returning to Anfield sooner than expected—if both clubs can strike a deal.
To make that happen, Liverpool are reportedly prepared to offer Lille an additional €6 million on top of the original transfer fee, effectively raising the total investment to €18 million. The extra payout would serve as compensation to Lille for cutting the loan short midway through the season.
Such a move reflects Liverpool’s urgency in reinforcing their attacking options as they struggle to recapture the form that took them so close to the Premier League title just months ago. With the January transfer window approaching, all eyes are now on whether Lille will accept the offer and let Origi begin his Premier League chapter ahead of schedule.
