Lorient Name 19-Man Squad for Ligue 1 Opener Against Lyon
FC Lorient have confirmed their 19-man squad for Sunday’s Ligue 1 season opener against Olympique Lyonnais at the Stade de Gerland. Head coach Sylvain Ripoll has included summer signings Abdul Majeed Waris and Benjamin Moukandjo for the highly anticipated clash.
However, the Breton side will travel without Rémi Mulumba, who remains sidelined through injury, while Rafidine Abdullah and Didier Ndong are unavailable due to suspension.
Despite the absences, Ripoll has named a balanced squad combining youth and experience, with attacking responsibilities likely to fall on new forwards Waris and Moukandjo, supported by the likes of Romain Philippoteaux and Benjamin Jeannot.
Lorient Squad to Face Lyon:
Goalkeepers: Lecomte, Chaigneau
Defenders: Gassama, Paye, Lautoa, Bellugou, Le Goff, Guerreiro
Midfielders: Philippoteaux, Barthelmé, Mostefa, Mesloub, Bouanga, Gakpa, Traoré, Fofana
Forwards: Jeannot, Moukandjo, Waris
Lorient will be aiming to make a strong start to the campaign against a Lyon side that finished as Ligue 1 runners-up last season.
