Lamine Gassama Braces for Tough Test Against Former Club Lyon
Senegalese defender Lamine Gassama is preparing for a challenging encounter as his current team, Lorient, faces his former club Lyon in Ligue 1’s seventh round this Wednesday at Stade Gerland.
Having left Lyon two and a half years ago, Gassama is wary of the confident Olympique Lyonnais side, who have rebounded from a slow start to the season with solid performances, including a 2-1 win over Monaco and a 1-1 draw at Paris Saint-Germain.
“Lyon struggled early on, but recently they’ve looked strong, especially in Paris. They’ll be full of confidence playing at home and will want to secure points,” Gassama noted. “It will be a tough match for us. We need to build on our recent results and stay confident. We have the quality to challenge them.”
He added, “I would have preferred facing them three weeks ago, but now they’re in good form. We must be united and not give up. I believe in this team and think we can get a positive result, like last season.”
