Alain Traoré’s summer was marked by uncertainty and disappointment, as a promising move to AS Monaco failed to materialize. After being pushed toward the exit by FC Lorient, the Burkinabé international remained with the club—not by choice, but due to a lack of concrete offers, despite serious interest from the Ligue 1 giants.
In his interview with L’Équipe, Traoré opened up about the missed opportunity:
“Monaco was a great project for me, and it’s good to see that such clubs are following you. It didn’t happen, I’m going to work hard to try to convince them again later… But I’ve turned the page.”
The move reportedly fell through because of delays in Radamel Falcao’s transfer, which had a domino effect on Monaco’s other transfer plans. With Falcao’s exit dragging on, the club couldn’t commit to signing Traoré in time.
Now back at Lorient, Traoré seems determined to focus on his performances and perhaps revive interest from top clubs in the future. Despite the setback, his ambition and professionalism remain intact.
