Lookman Watches from the Bench as Atalanta Thrash Young Boys, Tella Features in Leverkusen Win

Ademola Lookman was notably left out of Atalanta’s starting lineup in their dominant 6-1 victory over Young Boys at the Stadion Wankdorf in Bern on Tuesday night. Despite expectations that the Nigerian forward would play, Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini opted to rest Lookman, leaving him on the bench for the entirety of the match.

The Italian side put on a commanding performance, with Matteo Retegui and Charles De Ketelaere each scoring twice.

Saed Kolasinac and Lazar Samardzic also found the net for La Dea.

Young Boys could only respond with a goal from Silvere Ganvoula, unable to mount any serious challenge against the visitors.

Meanwhile, at the BayArena, Nathan Tella made a brief appearance for Bayer Leverkusen in their 5-0 demolition of Austrian side Salzburg.

The English winger replaced Jeremie Frimpong in the 68th minute, contributing to the comfortable win for Xabi Alonso’s side.
