Loic Williams: Spanish-Congolese defender joins Colorado Rapids from Granada in 3m move
Colorado Rapids have signed Spanish-Congolese centre-back Loic Williams from Granada CF in a permanent 3m transfer. The 24-year-old has agreed a deal through to 30 June 2030 with the Major League Soccer side.
Williams, a left-footed central defender from Valencia, moves to the United States after establishing himself in Spanish football, most recently in LaLiga2 with Granada. He makes the switch on the back of a rise in his market valuation to 3m, matching the fee paid by Colorado.
The defender joined Granada in July 2024 from CD Tenerife for 600,000, having first stepped into the professional spotlight with Tenerife following a move from CD Atletico Paso in 2023. Across Spains second tier and cup competitions, he has accumulated more than 120 senior appearances, including 87 in LaLiga2, where he scored once and provided one assist while logging over 6,500 minutes.
Standing at 1.88m, Williams offers Colorado a physically imposing option at the heart of defence, with experience in both league and Copa del Rey fixtures. His development through youth systems at Valencia and Girona before breaking into the senior game with Atletico Paso underlines a steady progression up the Spanish pyramid.
Williams arrival, confirmed on 13 July 2026, ties him to Colorado Rapids until the end of the 2029-30 season in what is one of the clubs most significant defensive signings in recent years.
