Liverpool are prepared to include promising winger Ben Doak in a part-exchange offer as they intensify efforts to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, according to reports.
The Merseyside club view Guehi as a priority target this summer and see the 19-year-old Doak as a valuable bargaining chip to sway Palace into a deal.
Born in Cote d’Ivoire, Guehi has developed into one of England’s most reliable centre-backs, with his consistent performances at Selhurst Park attracting interest across the Premier League.
At 24, he is also a regular member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad, adding further appeal to his growing profile.
Liverpool’s defensive reshuffle has been triggered by the expected departure of Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen.
In response, the Reds are keen to reinforce the heart of their defence and believe Guehi’s ball-playing ability and Premier League experience make him a natural fit.
Ben Doak, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Middlesbrough, has impressed with his pace and direct attacking style.
While highly rated at Anfield, Liverpool may be willing to part with him to facilitate the arrival of Guehi.
The Sun reports that Crystal Palace are open to negotiating and have a genuine interest in the Scottish teenager, who could bolster their wide options following Michael Olise’s departure to Bayern Munich.
However, Liverpool face competition for Guehi’s signature. Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Manchester United have all reportedly expressed interest in the former Chelsea academy product, who joined Palace in 2021.
Despite the strong demand, Liverpool are hopeful that their player-plus-cash proposal, centred around Doak, will give them a decisive edge in what could become one of the summer’s most intriguing transfer sagas.
