MAMADOU SAKHO ON THE MARGINS AT LIVERPOOL: LEVERKUSEN READY TO STEP IN
The future of Mamadou Sakho at Liverpool appears increasingly uncertain. The Franco-Senegalese defender, once considered a key figure in the Reds’ backline, is now on the fringes under Brendan Rodgers. After a season plagued by recurrent injuries, Sakho has slipped down the pecking order and was not even included in the squad for the second Premier League matchday against Bournemouth.
Initially, AS Roma showed interest in bringing the former Paris Saint-Germain captain on loan, but ultimately opted for Antonio Rüdiger, the 22-year-old German defender, leaving Sakho’s options in Italy limited.
However, Bayer Leverkusen has emerged as a serious contender for his signature. The Bundesliga club is reportedly prepared to offer €10 million to Liverpool in a bid to secure Sakho’s services. A move to Germany could provide the 25-year-old with the regular playing time he needs to revive his career and remain in contention for international duty with France.
With the transfer window still open, Sakho’s departure seems increasingly likely unless there’s a dramatic shift in Rodgers’ plans.
