Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has no qualms with Egypt international Mohammed Salah following recent comment about his future at the club.
Salah sparked a lot of controversy after inspiring the club to snatch an important away victory over Southampton at the weekend.
The forward, who is in the final year of his contract revealed he is yet to receive a contract extension offer from the English giants after firing a brace to help Liverpool secure 3-2 victory at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking on Egypt’s Channel One, Fowler said, “I think things will be resolved in the coming days. The current crisis is related to one thing, which is the terms of the contract only.”
He added: “Salah is a great and very important player, so it is better for Liverpool to renew his contract and continue with the team for a longer period. Liverpool’s management must meet his requests.”
“Salah’s recent statements did not bother me and I believe that Liverpool’s management will talk to him after these statements, and the negotiations will be settled in the coming weeks,” he added.
“It does not bother me that Salah breaks my records with Liverpool, he is a phenomenon and scores unbelievable goals. I am one of his biggest fans, because he has extraordinary statistics.”
“The biggest clubs want to sign Salah, so Liverpool management must decide and renew his contract,” he continued.
“I don’t see the crisis between them as financial, but the contract must be compatible with a rare player like him, and they must give him at least 3 seasons”
