Roma’s Bid Rejected: Mamadou Sakho Set to Stay at Liverpool
AS Roma’s hopes of signing Mamadou Sakho as a replacement for Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who recently joined Olympique Lyonnais, have been dashed. Despite expressing serious interest in the Franco-Senegalese centre-back, Liverpool has made it clear that the defender is not for sale.
According to the Daily Express, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has rejected Roma’s approach, reaffirming his confidence in Sakho as part of his plans for the current season. The former Paris Saint-Germain defender, who has endured an inconsistent spell at Anfield, is thus set to remain with the Reds.
However, staying at Liverpool means Sakho will face stiff competition in central defense, with both Dejan Lovren and Martin Škrtel also vying for starting spots.
With the transfer window still open, surprises remain possible, but for now, Sakho appears destined to continue his Premier League journey at Anfield.
