Liverpool’s pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has hit an unexpected legal snag, forcing the club to pause any immediate move for the rising star.

The 19-year-old Ivorian has caught the eye in the Bundesliga with his goals and creativity, putting him on the radar of several Premier League sides, including the Reds. However, complications around his representation have created a barrier that Liverpool cannot ignore.

Diomande recently joined Roc Nation Sports, but his previous agency contract remains registered with the English FA and is understood to include his image rights. Until those rights are clarified or transferred, Liverpool are unable to legally open formal negotiations over a transfer. That has effectively created a deadlock, meaning the club must wait for the player’s personal situation to be resolved before acting on their interest.

Diomande is under contract at Leipzig until 2030 and is considered one of Europe’s most exciting young attacking talents.

Any deal is now likely to hinge not on footballing ambition, but on how quickly this off‑pitch administrative issue can be settled ahead of the summer window.
