Liverpool to sign Djylian N’Guessan and loan him to Brest

Liverpool are set to sign AS Saint-Étienne forward Djylian N’Guessan, with the France youth international of Ivorian descent expected to spend next season on loan at fellow French club Brest.

The 18-year-old has agreed to join the Premier League champions and has been given permission by Saint-Étienne to undergo a medical, according to L’Équipe.

Liverpool see significant potential in N’Guessan and are planning to allow the teenager to continue his development in Ligue 1 before making the move to Merseyside.

N’Guessan’s move to Liverpool

N’Guessan is expected to complete his move to Liverpool next summer after agreeing terms with the English club.

The versatile forward made 13 appearances for Saint-Étienne, scoring once in the Coupe de France.

Despite his limited senior experience, his performances for France’s youth teams have attracted considerable attention.

The Saint-Nazaire-born striker scored 12 goals in 14 appearances for France Under-16s and followed that with 11 goals in 11 matches for the Under-17 side.

Those figures have strengthened Liverpool’s belief that the teenager has the potential to develop into a high-level forward.

Brest loan planned

Before beginning his Liverpool career, N’Guessan is expected to gain further experience in France’s top flight.

L’Équipe reports that the forward will join Brest on a straight season-long loan once his move to Liverpool is completed.

The arrangement would give N’Guessan the opportunity to test himself regularly in Ligue 1 while continuing his development before competing for a place in Liverpool’s first-team squad.

For the teenager, the move represents a significant step in his progression from Saint-Étienne’s academy to senior football, while Liverpool will hope his experience at Brest can accelerate his development.
