Dutch-Ghanaian full-back Jeremie Frimpong has emerged as a top target for Liverpool as the Premier League giants look for potential replacements for Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose future at the club is becoming increasingly uncertain.
With Alexander-Arnold’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, rumors suggest Real Madrid are closely monitoring the situation, with reports claiming the 26-year-old is leaning toward a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
While Liverpool would prefer to keep their vice-captain, they face limited options to prevent his departure should he decide to leave.
German outlet Bild reports that Liverpool are eyeing Bayer Leverkusen’s Frimpong as a potential successor to Alexander-Arnold.
Frimpong, who began his career at Manchester City’s youth academy, had a two-year spell at Celtic before joining Leverkusen in 2021. Since then, the Dutch right-back has made 160 appearances for the Bundesliga side, scoring 26 goals and registering 39 assists.
Under Xabi Alonso, Frimpong has played a key role in Leverkusen’s success, contributing to their domestic double last season.
