Liverpool stands firm on Rio Ngumoha amid Bayern interest
Liverpool have firmly rejected any possibility of selling 17-year-old sensation Rio Ngumoha this summer, despite Bayern Munich’s intense interest in the gifted left winger.
Fabrizio Romano, the trusted transfer insider, confirmed the club’s unwavering position: “Liverpool stance on Rio Ngumoha, not just today but for months: untouchable,” Romano tweeted. He added that Ngumoha is “seen as crucial part of the project and no chance for his exit, LFC view is clear”.
German media recently reported that Bayern viewed Ngumoha as their priority left-wing target, even claiming a verbal agreement on personal terms had been reached with the player’s camp. However, Liverpool were never going to approve selling one of their most talented squad members.
Ngumoha’s breakthrough moment arrived on January 11, 2025, when he made his senior debut starting Liverpool’s 4-0 FA Cup victory over Accrington Stanley at Anfield. At just 16 years and 135 days, he became the youngest player to start a first-team match for Liverpool and the youngest ever to feature in an FA Cup game for the club, completing three successful dribbles in his 63-minute appearance.
Under new head coach Andoni Iraola, Ngumoha’s playing time should increase significantly.
