Liverpool have made a firm statement about Ibrahima Konate’s future by placing a steep €100 million (£84m) price tag on the defender.
The Reds are determined to keep hold of the former Sochaux defender despite growing interest from European giants Real Madrid and PSG.
Konate, who arrived at Anfield in May 2021, quickly formed a solid partnership with Virgil van Dijk. His Premier League debut came in September that year, helping the team to a 3–0 clean sheet win against Crystal Palace.
With only a year left on his current deal, speculation over Konate’s future has increased. However, Liverpool are not prepared to let him go easily. Reports from Spain suggest that new boss Arne Slot is standing firm, valuing the Frenchman as a key part of his plans.
Real Madrid are reportedly willing to wait until next summer to sign him for free. Meanwhile, PSG are also in the race as they aim to strengthen their squad with more homegrown talent after an impressive domestic run.
