Premier League giants Liverpool have a slapped a £45 million price tag on France international of Malian descent Ibrahima Konaté.
The 26-year-old, whose contract expires in summer 2026 has emerged as a top transfer target for Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The Reds risk losing the enterprising defender for free next summer, with just a year left on his current contract. Currently, Konaté favours a move to Real Madrid, turning down contract renewal offer from Liverpool.
According to reports, talks has been held between representatives of Liverpool and Real Madrid over the transfer of the defender. The Spanish giants are expected to renew talks with the Premier League club in the course of the week.
Konaté joined Liverpool in 2021 from German side Leipzig for €40 million and has since made 132 appearances for the Reds, scoring 5 goals and providing 4 assists.
His current contract with Liverpool runs until 2026, and the club is keen to keep him on Merseyside by offering a new deal.
