Liverpool seek compromise with Paris Saint-Germain over Bradley Barcola deal

Liverpool are trying to find a compromise with Paris Saint-Germain over the signing of Bradley Barcola, with a significant gap still separating the two clubs’ valuations of the France winger.

Paris Saint-Germain want £145m for the 23-year-old, while Liverpool do not want to go beyond £120m. According to Sky, the current discussions centre on an offer worth up to £100m, leaving the Premier League club keen to negotiate a middle ground rather than meet the French side’s full asking price.

Talks are expected to intensify on Thursday after Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Super Cup match against Aston Villa. Liverpool remain interested in finding a structure that satisfies both clubs, but the transfer has reached a decisive stage because of the difference between the proposed fee and Paris Saint-Germain’s valuation.

The deal has not been ruled out, although Liverpool have started to consider how long they are prepared to allow negotiations to continue without a conclusion. The club do not want to exceed their budget in order to force through a move for Barcola.

Barcola’s desire to move to Anfield is not considered a problem for Liverpool. Representatives of the player have already held discussions with the English club, and personal terms are not expected to prevent the transfer from being completed.

The main obstacle remains the financial agreement and Paris Saint-Germain’s position. The French club are under no pressure to sell Barcola, as he has two years remaining on his contract and there is no financial necessity for them to part with him.

Paris Saint-Germain would be willing for the winger to remain at the club. However, Barcola has rejected several attempts to extend his contract and has made clear that he would like to take on a new challenge in the near future.

That stance has attracted interest from several leading European clubs. Arsenal have emerged as one of the strongest potential rivals to Liverpool, while Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the situation. Barcelona are likewise keeping track of the winger’s position.

Liverpool hope to establish common ground with Paris Saint-Germain in the coming days, but the club are unwilling to break through the upper limit of their transfer budget simply to secure Barcola’s signature.

Barcola joined Paris Saint-Germain’s senior set-up and has made 152 appearances for the club, scoring 39 goals and providing 37 assists. His output and his stated wish for a new experience have made him one of the players attracting significant attention during the current negotiations, while Paris Saint-Germain’s firm financial position means Liverpool must decide whether a compromise can be reached.
