Liverpool have confirmed the signing of highly rated 17-year-old center-back Ifeanyi Ndukwe from Austria Vienna, continuing the club’s strategy of investing in promising youth talent.
The Austrian-born Nigerian defender, who turns 18 in March, will officially join the Reds in the summer and is set to link up with Liverpool’s Under-21 side at Kirkby.
Ndukwe has already built an impressive reputation at youth international level after starring for Austria at the 2025 U17 World Cup, where the team finished as runners-up. At club level, he has been a regular for Austria Vienna’s reserve side and has earned inclusion in the senior matchday squad on nine occasions this season, underlining how highly he is regarded in his homeland.
Hermann Stadler, manager of Austria’s U18 team, recently spoke to Kronen Zeitung about the move and praised the youngster’s progress, saying: “He’s [Ndukwe] developed superbly and will go far. I would have liked to see him play in Austria for another year. In two or three years, we’ll see if it was the right move.”
For Liverpool, Ndukwe’s arrival strengthens their defensive pipeline, while the player gains a platform at one of Europe’s biggest clubs to continue his rapid development.
