Mamadou Sakho’s promising trajectory at Liverpool was temporarily derailed by a significant injury he sustained. Since December 29, the central defender, who even managed to score a goal in the Premier League, has been sidelined and faces a challenge to reclaim his position in the team’s defensive setup.
“It will be tough to get back into the team because everyone is performing well, but we all aspire to play for a prestigious club like Liverpool. Nothing comes easy in football. I’m working hard, and I’ll be prepared if the manager calls upon me. There are still nine matches left to play. I also hope to earn back my place in the French national team for the World Cup,” Sakho expressed to the Liverpool Echo.
Renowned for his pivotal role in France’s victory against Ukraine with his brace, securing a 3-0 win, Sakho is anticipated to be among Didier Deschamps’ primary selections for the upcoming 2014 World Cup.
