Brendan Rodgers: Divock Origi Will Be a “World-Class Striker”
As Lille took on Wolfsburg in their Europa League group stage clash, Divock Origi featured once again for the French side. But it’s Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers who made headlines on the sidelines, expressing his strong belief in the Belgian international’s potential.
Speaking in a press conference, Rodgers stated:
“It’s not good now, I’m aware of that, but we’ve taken a player, Divock Origi, in whom we have a lot of long-term faith, and who will become a world-class striker.”
The Northern Irishman went on to highlight Origi’s strengths:
“We’ll take him back next summer. He’s already a top player. He has everything: the speed, the profile, etc.”
Liverpool signed Origi during the last summer transfer window, immediately loaning him back to Lille for the 2014–2015 season. Despite Liverpool’s current attacking struggles, Rodgers remains optimistic that Origi will be a key figure in the club’s future.
