Liverpool appear increasingly open to the idea of Mohamed Salah leaving Anfield this summer, with just one year remaining on his current contract.
The Egyptian star’s future has been clouded in uncertainty since December, when his comments after a draw with Leeds raised doubts about his relationship with the club. At that time, Salah’s situation in Merseyside looked bleak, as he admitted feeling the club had turned its back on him and that his relationship with head coach Arne Slot had become strained.
Despite ongoing speculation over a move away, Salah eventually managed to repair his relationship with the Dutch coach and stayed at Liverpool at least until the end of the current season.
However, talk of a switch to the Saudi Pro League has never fully disappeared. On the “Transfer Insider” podcast, well‑known journalist Pete O’Rourke said: “This story never goes away, it comes back almost every transfer window. We know that Mohamed Salah is a major target for the Saudi Pro League.”
O’Rourke, who specialises in transfer news, added: “Around two seasons ago, Al Ittihad made a huge offer worth 150 million pounds, which Liverpool rejected.”
“Look, this has not been a good season for Mohamed Salah on or off the pitch. Clearly, he had a dispute with Arne Slot, and obviously his level has not even been close to last season, which was always going to be hard to repeat.”
“Right now, he has the coach’s trust, but I think his long‑term future is in doubt. He is into the last 18 months of his contract, and by the summer he will have only one year left on this lucrative deal, so this might be the right time for both sides to part ways.”
