Liverpool not giving up on signing English-Ivorian defender Marc Guehi
English outfit Liverpool are not giving up on signing English defender of Ivorian descent Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
The Reds pushed to sign the 25-year-old centre-back before the close of the 2025 summer transfer window, but Palace manager Oliver Glasner blocked the move.
According to The Times (via fussballtransfers.com), Liverpool remain keen on Guehi but are unlikely to make another attempt in January.
Instead, they are expected to wait until the summer of 2026, when the England international will be available on a free transfer.
Guehi could then step in as a replacement for Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract expires next summer and who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Liverpool’s wait, however, could prove risky. Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are all monitoring Guehi closely and, unlike Premier League clubs, they can begin negotiating a pre-contract with him from January 1.
The January window provides clarity on any potential move.
