Liverpool manager Arne Slot is hopeful that Ibrahima Konate will recover in time for their highly anticipated Premier League showdown against Manchester City this weekend.
The Reds are facing defensive challenges after both Konate and Conor Bradley sustained injuries during their 2-0 Champions League victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Konate managed to complete the match but required assistance leaving the pitch following a collision with Madrid substitute Endrick. Bradley, meanwhile, impressed throughout his 87-minute stint, successfully neutralizing Kylian Mbappé before pulling up with a hamstring issue.
Speaking after the match, Arne Slot remained optimistic despite the injury concerns.
“We know now where they have pain, but it’s difficult to judge so soon after the game,” he said.
The Liverpool manager added, “This is what happens in the season—it’s part of football. I’m really hoping both of them are available to play [on Sunday]. If not, somebody else has to step up, and so far, everybody has stepped up this season.”
Liverpool’s clash against Manchester City is a crucial fixture as both teams compete for dominance in the Premier League title race.
The much-anticipated fixture will be played on Sunday, December 1.
