Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed the return date of Mohamed Salah as the Reds prepare to host Burnley at Anfield tomorrow in the 22nd round of the English Premier League.
Liverpool currently sit fourth in the league table with 35 points, while Burnley occupy nineteenth place with 13 points as the two sides meet on Merseyside.
Speculation had surrounded Salah’s availability following Egypt’s exit from the Africa Cup of Nations, where the forward missed the chance to feature in the final after a narrow defeat to Senegal, sealed by a decisive goal from Sadio Mané. Several media reports had suggested varying timelines for his return to club duty.
Speaking to the press, Slot clarified the situation, stressing that Salah still has national team commitments before rejoining his club.
“First and foremost, he will play an important match with Egypt on Saturday and then he will return, and I am happy to have him back,” he said.
The Liverpool manager underlined Salah’s importance to the team and to him personally, highlighting the boost his return provides.
“Mohammed has been a very important player for this club and for me personally, so I am happy to have him back. Even if I had 15 strikers, I would still be happy to have him back, but that is not our current situation. I am happy to have him back after an important match tomorrow,” Slot noted.
Slot also touched on Salah’s expected availability for upcoming fixtures and addressed questions about private discussions following Egypt’s elimination.
“The Marseille match? Salah will return next week, and we are in talks with him. Talking to him after his dismissal in the Senegal match? Whatever happens will remain between him and me. I do not share details of the private conversations we have,” he said.
