Kolo Touré Opts for Loyalty, Stays at Liverpool Amid Transfer Rumors
Kolo Touré has decided against a summer move, choosing to remain at Liverpool despite interest from Turkish side Trabzonspor. The Ivorian defender, and older brother to Yaya Touré, expressed satisfaction with his decision to stay at Anfield.
The 33-year-old, who still has one year left on his contract, told Sky Sports, “It’s a big club. As a player, you always want to play for a big team.” Although linked with a transfer during the summer window, Touré ultimately chose to continue his career with the Reds.
However, the former Manchester City defender has yet to feature in a match for Liverpool this season under manager Brendan Rodgers. Should playing opportunities fail to materialize by the end of the year, there is speculation that Touré might consider a January 2015 move to find more game time.
