Liverpool are once again targeting Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi for a summer move, with his current deal running out on June 30.
According to David Ornstein, Liverpool had already come very close to signing Guehi on deadline day last September, agreeing a fee of around £35 million and personal terms on a contract until 2030.
A portion of his medical was completed, but the transfer collapsed when Palace failed to bring in a replacement and decided to keep the 25-year-old for the rest of the season.
Liverpool are now closely watching how Guehi’s contract situation develops, seeing a potential free transfer as a smart way to reinforce their defence. The England international could become a key long-term option at centre-back if he leaves Selhurst Park at the end of the campaign.
However, Liverpool face serious competition from Premier League rivals. Manchester City are pushing to sign Guehi as early as this January window, while Arsenal have also registered interest in the Crystal Palace captain, setting up a potential three-way battle for his signature.
