Premier League giants Liverpool are doing everything possible to keep Franco-Malian defender Ibrahima Konaté beyond 2026.
The 26-year-old rock-solid defender is in the final year of his contract at Liverpool, sparking concerns about his future at the club.
Konate has not shown any sign of renewing his contract with the Reds. Currently, contract renewal talks between both parties has proved futile, with the Merseyside outfit risk losing the defender for free next summer.
The former Leipzig marksman had previously turned down the contract renewal bids from Liverpool as he seeks to depart the club.
However, the Premier League giants is said to have submitted an improved contract renewal bid to Konate in an attempt to get him sign beyond 2026.
The Paris FC youth graduate rose to prominence as one of the best centre-backs in Europe, becoming a regular starter for Didier Deschamps’ France national team.
With contract renewal talks hanging in the balance, the defender could part ways with Liverpool next summer.
Konaté is reportedly set on running his contract down and leaving Liverpool next summer. A handful of major European clubs are monitoring Konaté’s situation, including PSG and Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Konaté’s preference would be to join the Los Merengues where he would reunite with former Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold (26), who also ran his contract down to join the Spanish capital.
