Premier League heavyweights Liverpool have taken note of Jeremie Frimpong’s impressive performances for Bayer Leverkusen this season, according to reports from Florian Plettenberg.
The 24-year-old right wing-back, born in the Netherlands to Ghanaian parents, has shown significant development, catching the attention of the English side.
However, despite Frimpong’s standout form, he is not viewed as a primary transfer target for the upcoming summer window.
The reason for this hesitation lies in the tactical preferences of Liverpool’s new head coach, Arne Slot. Slot favors a more traditional right-back in his back four formation, which contrasts with Frimpong’s attacking style of play.
While Liverpool continues to admire the Dutchman’s progress, his current role at Leverkusen does not align with the tactical approach Slot plans to implement at Anfield.
As such, although Frimpong remains a player of interest, Liverpool does not have immediate intentions to pursue a transfer.
The club is likely to focus on other targets that fit Slot’s system more closely, ensuring that any potential signings will complement the team’s strategic goals moving forward.
