Liverpool have €55m option to sign Ronald Araujo permanently, says Romano

Liverpool have an option to sign Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo permanently for €55m next summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Uruguay international joined Liverpool on loan during the previous summer transfer window after his role at Barcelona was reduced under manager Hansi Flick.

Several reports had claimed the loan agreement contained no purchase option, leaving Barcelona to decide the player’s future once the current season ended.

Romano has now contradicted those reports, revealing that Liverpool can make Araujo’s move permanent for €55m.

“There is a buy option clause for Liverpool, and it is worth €55m,” Romano told CaughtOffside.

He described the deal as one of the summer’s most underrated transfers and said Liverpool were particularly pleased with the signing.

“Liverpool are very happy to have signed Ronald Araujo,” he added.

Araujo has quickly established himself as a key player for Liverpool, producing strong performances both at centre-back and right-back since arriving on loan.

Barcelona are expected to welcome a permanent sale next year, with Araujo’s position in Flick’s plans having declined before his departure.
