Liverpool face competition from Barcelona in race to sign Malick Fofana
Liverpool are facing strong competition from FC Barcelona in the race to sign Belgian forward of Guinean descent, Malick Fofana.
The 20-year-old Lyon winger, who has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Arsenal since July, remains a target for Europe’s top clubs due to his versatility and attacking prowess.
However, Liverpool’s pursuit could be influenced by Barcelona’s plans regarding Marcus Rashford.
Rashford, currently on loan at Barcelona with a £26 million purchase option, is unlikely to be signed permanently.
This has prompted the Spanish giants to monitor emerging talents like Fofana as potential replacements.
Should Barcelona decline to exercise their option for Rashford, they may enter the race for Fofana, complicating Liverpool’s transfer plans.
Fofana, valued at around £51.5 million, has contributed three goals in 12 appearances for Lyon this season. His future in France appears set to come to an end amid the strong interest from Liverpool and FC Barcelona.
