Liverpool eye Yankuba Minteh as long term Mohamed Salah successor

With Mohamed Salah enduring a rare dip in form, Liverpool are quietly sketching out life after their Egyptian superstar and a new summer target could redefine their attack.

Local reports claim Arne Slot has already identified Gambian winger Yankuba Minteh as his preferred option on the right flank, amid growing speculation Salah could leave Anfield before his contract expires in 2027.

Salah, now 33, has scored just 5 league goals after 29 Premier League rounds this season, a sharp drop from the prolific numbers that made him one of the division’s greatest forwards. That decline, coupled with interest from abroad, has accelerated Liverpool’s search for a successor.

The club also face a crucial Champions League second leg against Galatasaray at Anfield, needing to overturn a 1–0 first-leg defeat sealed by Mario Lemina.

According to British outlet Teamtalk, Slot has pushed strongly for Minteh, whom he previously coached on loan at Feyenoord in 2023/24.

The 21-year-old Brighton winger has contributed 5 goal involvements in 25 Premier League games this season and is valued at around 70–80 million euros, a fee Liverpool may consider paying to launch a new era in their forward line after Salah’s historic spell.
