Liverpool are reportedly open to selling young centre-back Jarell Quansah this summer, with new head coach Arne Slot not fully convinced about the defender’s long-term role in the squad.
The 22-year-old has attracted interest from both the Bundesliga and fellow Premier League clubs as the Reds consider reshaping their backline.
Quansah, who has Ghanaian heritage, was once considered a key part of Liverpool’s defensive future but has struggled for regular playing time in recent months.
Despite reaching his 40th senior appearance for the club during their 3–2 defeat to Brighton on Monday, only 13 of those outings have come this season—highlighting his diminished standing under the club’s new leadership.
German journalist Florian Plettenberg confirmed the situation, stating: “Understand several Bundesliga clubs and teams from England are showing interest in Jarell Quansah. A sale of the 22y/o centre-back this summer is not ruled out.”
Quansah faces stiff competition from the established central defensive pairing of Virgil van Dijk—who recently extended his contract—and Ibrahima Konaté.
With his path to regular first-team football increasingly uncertain, a transfer could offer more opportunities elsewhere.
Several young English players, including Jude Bellingham, Jadon Sancho and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, have found success in Germany, and a similar move could be on the cards for Quansah.
Though he signed a long-term deal in October, Liverpool’s anticipated squad overhaul may place him among the players considered expendable.
