Mario Balotelli in Talks for Shock Return to AC Milan
After a disastrous 2014-2015 season at Liverpool, Mario Balotelli could be heading back to Serie A — and possibly to a familiar destination. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian forward of Ghanaian descent met with AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic in Florence on Saturday to explore the possibility of rejoining the Rossoneri.
The meeting reportedly centered around the conditions for a potential loan return to the club where Balotelli previously played from January 2013 to August 2014, scoring 30 goals in 54 appearances.
Despite signing the striker for €20 million just last summer, Liverpool are now prepared to let Balotelli leave on a free loan, according to the same source. The move reflects the Merseyside club’s desire to offload the player after a disappointing spell, in which Balotelli scored just one Premier League goal during the entire season.
Balotelli’s return to Milan would mark a dramatic turn in a career that has fluctuated between promise and controversy. Under Mihajlovic’s more disciplined regime, the player could be hoping for a revival — and a second chance at the San Siro.
