Liverpool consider new role for Rio Ngumoha
Liverpool are considering a new role for Rio Ngumoha, with the teenager possibly being used on the right wing instead of the left where he has played so far.
The idea comes as the club weighs up its wing options and looks to avoid overcrowding on one side of the pitch.
The Reds are also exploring new attacking signings, including Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola, while Cody Gakpo remains part of the conversation. Because several of those names prefer the left side, Liverpool may need a more natural right-sided option in the squad.
That is where Ngumoha could come in. Giving him minutes on the opposite flank would not only broaden his tactical value, but also create a clearer route into the first team. It could also help Liverpool discourage outside interest in a player they are keen to keep at Anfield.
Ngumoha has already made a rapid rise through the club’s ranks. He signed his first professional contract in September 2025, scored the youngest goal in Liverpool history in August 2025, and also became the youngest player to feature in European competition for the club. The proposed switch to the right would be another sign of how highly Liverpool rate his development.
