Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their interest in highly rated Ivorian forward Yan Diomande, assigning scouts to closely monitor the RB Leipzig youngster as competition for his signature continues to grow across Europe.
According to respected journalist Alex Crook of talkSPORT, Liverpool are preparing to enter the race for the 19-year-old attacker, who has already attracted attention from Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Crook revealed that Liverpool scouts were in attendance during RB Leipzig’s Bundesliga clash with VfL Wolfsburg last Sunday, a match that ended 2-2. Diomande made a strong impression in that fixture, scoring Leipzig’s equaliser to restore parity at 1-1.
The young forward is being viewed at Anfield as a potential long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, who continues to be heavily linked with lucrative offers from Saudi Arabian clubs. While no immediate decision has been made, Diomande’s profile and age reportedly make him an attractive option for Liverpool’s future planning.
RB Leipzig are understood to be holding out for a fee in excess of £80 million for the Ivorian attacker. However, that valuation could soften should the Saxony-based club fail to secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Leipzig currently sit fifth in the Bundesliga standings, leaving their European prospects uncertain as the campaign progresses.
Diomande’s rapid rise and growing list of admirers underline his status as one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards, with Liverpool now firmly keeping him under close observation.
