Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in advanced talks to sign Ivory Coast striker Yan Diomande
Premier League duo of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are pushing for the acquisition of Ivory Coast international Yan Diomande.
The 19-year-old attacker, who plies his trade for German outfit, RB Leipzig has attracted significant interest after showcasing glimpses of good performances in the current campaign.
Diomande has racked up four goals and delivered four assists in 14 appearances for the German club this season.
However, Liverpool and Tottenham, who are keen to add Diomande to their ranks have already made advanced contacts with his entourage.
Tottenham have been monitoring the Ivorian for several months and has reportedly intensified their pursuit of the striker. His profile at Leipzig appeals Thomas Frank, who wants to bolster his attacking line with a dynamic player capable of breaking through defenses.
On the other side, Liverpool, who are currently rebuilding their attack, see Diomande as a serious option to bring energy and attacking flair to the center of the pitch.
While negotiations with the players camp is said to be advanced, Leipzig remains calm and has not yet opened official negotiations with any club.
Meanwhile, the German club is closely monitoring the progress of the discussions surrounding the player.
However, unlike with the two English clubs, contact has so far been limited to exploratory calls, and no official meetings or appointments have yet been scheduled between the player’s representatives and Barcelona’s management. The Catalan club is monitoring the situation but has not yet decided to take the next step.
RB Leipzig, fully aware of the growing interest in their young winger, have not publicly set a price. However, the German club could be demanding, given the player’s potential and the competition for his signature.
