Lionel Messi reaches 100 Inter Miami goals as club win Champions Cup

Inter Miami claimed the Champions Cup for the first time by beating Mexican side Cruz Azul 2-0 in the final, with Lionel Messi scoring one goal and creating the other.

The victory delivered Inter Miami’s fourth major trophy and marked Messi’s fourth title since joining the club.

The Champions Cup, described as the North American Super Cup, has been held annually since 2018. It is contested between the champions of the United States league and Mexico’s league.

Messi opened the scoring in the 24th minute, heading in from a cross by Luis Suarez. The goal was his 100th for Inter Miami in 115 appearances.

The Argentina captain then set up the second goal in the 81st minute, with Casemiro finishing the move to secure victory for Inter Miami.

Messi’s record at Inter Miami

Messi has now contributed to 158 goals in his 115 matches for the club, combining his goals and assists.

The Champions Cup success also took his career trophy tally to 49, including four titles won with Inter Miami.

His previous honours with the club were the Leagues Cup in 2023, the Supporters’ Shield in 2024, the United States league title in 2025 and the Cup Winners’ Cup in 2026.

Inter Miami’s win over Cruz Azul therefore added the Champions Cup to the club’s honours for the first time, while Messi reached another milestone by scoring his 100th goal for the team.
