Eldense consider fresh move for Al Ahly midfielder Mahmoud Salah

Spanish club Eldense, owned by Argentine superstar Lionel Messi, could make a fresh attempt to sign Al Ahly midfielder Mahmoud Salah during the upcoming January transfer window after failing to secure his services last summer.

Eldense sporting director Victor Lafuente has confirmed that the Egyptian player remains on the club’s radar despite his recent move to the Cairo-based giants, with the Spanish side considering whether to revive their interest ahead of the winter transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Sawt Al-Ahly, Lafuente revealed that Eldense had previously submitted an official offer to Ghazl El Mahalla for the player’s services before the negotiations broke down.

“Mahmoud Salah was one of our targets last summer, and we submitted an official offer to Ghazl El Mahalla to sign him, but the negotiations did not continue due to problems we faced related to the Financial Fair Play rules,” he said.

The sporting director did not rule out another approach in January, although he stressed that the club must first assess the circumstances surrounding the midfielder’s transfer to Al Ahly before making a decision.

“It is possible that we will make another move to sign him despite his move to Al Ahly, but we need to study all the details and evaluate the situation well before taking any step,” Lafuente added.

Eldense’s renewed interest could put the Egyptian midfielder’s future under the spotlight just months after he joined Al Ahly. However, Lafuente’s comments indicate only the possibility of a fresh approach, with no new official offer confirmed at this stage.

The Spanish club are looking to strengthen their squad as they continue their sporting project, with the acquisition of Eldense by Messi adding further attention to their recruitment plans.

The club announced in October that ownership had been transferred to the Argentina captain, who is expected to oversee a project focused on developing its sporting and administrative structures and improving its standing in Spanish football.

For Mahmoud Salah, the interest from Spain represents a continuation of the attention he attracted during his time at Ghazl El Mahalla. His subsequent move to Al Ahly, however, means any potential deal would require Eldense to assess the player’s situation with his new club.

Whether the Spanish side will turn their interest into a formal January bid remains uncertain, with Al Ahly’s stance on the midfielder likely to be a key factor in determining whether negotiations can progress.
