Reportedly, Lionel Messi and Barcelona are facing difficulties in reaching an agreement for the extension of Messi’s contract. The main point of contention is the demand from Messi’s camp for a staggering 45 million euros, a figure that emerged following the decision of Barcelona’s new president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, to offer less than what his predecessor Sandro Rosell had proposed. Adding to the complexity, the club also seeks a portion of Messi’s advertising earnings.
These hurdles have complicated the negotiation process and may even prompt Messi’s father, who oversees his interests, to consider terminating the talks altogether. According to Marca, this possibility is being contemplated.
