Pape Souaré has signed a two-season contract extension with Lille, securing his ties with the club until 2017. The Senegalese international, who returned from a loan spell at Reims last season, spent time at the Diambars institution in Senegal for training. Since his initial arrival at Lille in 2008, Souaré has become a key player for the team, featuring in 7 out of 8 Ligue 1 matches this season. Despite his loan spell, Souaré has remained a consistent member of the Senegal national team since his debut in 2012, earning a call-up for the match against Côte d’Ivoire.
