Ryan Mendes Faces Injury Setback Following Cape Verde Victory
Lille striker Ryan Mendes is likely to miss his club’s upcoming Ligue 1 match against Nantes after sustaining an injury during Cape Verde’s 2-1 win over Zambia in the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The forward did not feature in the qualifier due to a groin injury and is expected to return to Lille this Friday. However, concerns remain over his fitness ahead of Sunday’s fixture against Nantes.
Speaking to L’Équipe, Mendes confirmed he is dealing with an adductor injury and may be unable to take part in the upcoming match. Lille coach René Girard will have to decide whether to risk the Cape Verde international, who is currently recovering from the injury sustained during international duty.
