Rio Mavuba Extends His Stay at Lille Until 2019
After much speculation about a potential departure, Rio Mavuba has finally settled his future — and it’s with Lille OSC. The club officially announced on its website that the captain has signed a four-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2019.
Out of contract this summer, Mavuba decided to renew his commitment to the club he’s called home for seven years.
“After some thought, it seemed obvious to me to extend my contract and finish my career at LOSC,” said Mavuba. “There is a specific project here that I want to invest in. LOSC allowed me to get back on track after my experience at Villarreal and, above all, offered me strong emotions. The beautiful story continues. I deeply love this club, which is my second family.”
With this extension, the 31-year-old French international reinforces his desire to end his career at Lille, further cementing his legacy as one of the club’s modern icons.
